It is important to take responsibility for your own good health at any age–and it is never too late to begin to establish healthier habits and look for the best multivitamin for men. 3. Know the history of your family–and discuss it with your doctor.

If you have a history of obesity, heart disease, diabetes or other chronic health conditions in your dad or other family members, you may be at higher risk of developing such conditions yourself. Your doctor can assist you in developing an action plan to minimize these risks and increase early detection chances.

4. Get some workout.

Ideally, at least 30 minutes a day should be exercised. But if you have trouble getting in a workout, note that even a brisk 20-minute stroll with your partner a few times a week, or daily outdoor play with your children or grandchildren, can provide safe and stress-relieving benefits to your heart.

5. Please allow yourself to take a break.

Going off to play golf once in a while, going to a ball game, or watching television with your family are not just fun ideas–they are best practices that allow you to keep up with stress. If you have trouble finding space for downtime, search for creative ways to get some “you” time, such as listening to audiobooks and podcasts on your drive to work, or taking care of the yard.

6. Ask your doctor for screening for cancer.

Your doctor may recommend screening for colon cancer, prostate cancer, or lung cancer based on your age, family history, and lifestyle.

7. Arrange smoking.

Ask your doctor to help you create an action plan, then choose and stick with a “quit date.”
